My Not That Exciting but Perfectly Fine Life

"We tend to forget that happiness doesn't come as a result of getting something we don't have, but rather of recognizing and appreciating what we do have.” Frederick Keonig

A Season of Thanksgiving: Jesus

Words can’t express my gratitude for Jesus…the One who died for me, forgives my sins, accepts me where I’m at while beckoning me to just be in his presence and allow him to transform me. He has been so many things to me over the years: a pursuer of my heart, a comfort in rough seasons, a healer of so many aspects in my life, a protector even when I’m clueless (I’m sure I have no idea the extent of his protection, but I have a feeling it’s been a ton!), a disciplinarian in my wayward moments, a source of strength, a friend when I’m alone (and when I’m surrounded by people too), a provider in times of need, a guide when I’m at a loss of what to do next, a patient one in my sometimes slow obedience, a truth teller when I’m believing lies, and my source of hope when all seems at a loss. One of my favorite authors is Alicia Britt Chole. I just finished her devotional, “Intimate Conversations,” and she concludes it with one of her primary guiding principles in life. It captures my sentiments as well.

Life is not about the scenery.
Life is all about the Company.
God is with us.
And his presence is enough.
